Wyoming Electrical Contractor

Requirements to Obtaining your License

• Must provide documentation of eight years of experience.
• Experience must be obtained during a time frame no less than four (4) years.
• Up to 2 years (4,000 hours) credit may be given for electrical education courses.

Work that can be Done Under this License

An electrical contractor services include low voltage, fire detection, sign wiring, and all residential, commercial and industrial building or structural wiring.

Applying to get your License

The initial application fee is $200, with an annual renewal fee of $100. Contractor fees are $400 for application and $400 for the annual renewal.

Reciprocity Agreements

Journeyman: The state of Wyoming has a reciprocity agreement for the Journeyman Electrician license with the following states: Utah, Montana, Washington, Alaska, Colorado, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, New Hampshire.

Master: Idaho, South Dakota, and Utah

Continuing Education

16 hours of continuing education are required per renewal.

Exam Details

• 100 questions and a 5 hour time limit (Master)
• 80 questions and a 4 hour time limit (Journeyman)
• $100 exam fee
• 75% is required to pass for Master, 70% for Journeyman
