Are you needing to obtain or renew your Virginia Contractors License or tradesman license? We offer online exam prep, books, and continuing education to help you obtain and maintain your State License. Includes No-Pass No-Pay and pricing guarantees.
A contractor's license is generally required in Virginia (VA) for any construction work in excess of $1,000. An individual license is issued to those who want to do work with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, at the master and journeyman levels.
The first step to obtaining your license is to complete an 8 Hour Pre-Licensing Course. This course is required for all potential contractors.
To be a Class A or Class B Contractor, individuals must also pass an examination on the regulations of the board and on business management practices. You are also required to pass an examination specific to your type of work, though Building Technical covers most classifications.
In order to become a Master or Journeyman, you must first pass the appropriate trade exam. Pre-approval to sit for the exam by the Board is required.
The following tradesmen CEU courses are now available online and are full state approved.
Applications for licensure can be obtained from the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation State Board for Contractors by calling (804) 367-8511. Examinations can be scheduled through PSI by calling (800) 733-9267. Please select the license/examination that you are interested in.
