Virginia Contractor License (VA)
A contractors license is generally required in Virginia (VA)for any construction work in excess of $1,000. An individual license is issued to those who want to do work with plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, at the master and journeyman levels. To be a Class A or Class B Contractor, individuals must also pass an examination on the regulations of the board and on business management practices. Individuals who perform framing on new construction are required to pass the building technical examination.
