Alaska Plumbing Mechanical Administrator (Commercial, Industrial, Residential)

- Pre qualification is NOT required
- A valid contractor registration is required before bidding on a project
- A certificate of insurance for public liability and property damage insurance (not less than $20,000 property damage, $50,000 injury or death to one person, $100,000 injury or death to more than one person).
- Evidence of workers’ compensation insurance is required for registration as a construction contractor. The insurance must be provided by a private insurance carrier registered to do business in the State of Alaska and the policy must be specifically written to pay benefits as provided by Alaska law.
- Surety bond for $5,000.

Residential Plumbing includes the installation, alteration, or retrofitting of fuel gas piping downstream of the gas meter, or fuel tank and fuel oil piping that is integral to work on an HVAC system for a single-family dwelling or a duplex dwelling not exceeding three stories; and warm air heating systems not exceeding 240,000 B.T.U./hour input.
A commercial and industrial plumbing category may supervise the installation or retrofitting of all pneumatic or electric controls, and may supervise the retrofitting of all control wiring of 48 volts or less, necessary for the operation of plumbing or water conditioning equipment so long as those modifications do not alter the electrical characteristics of the mechanical system or controls. The original installation of control wiring, or the alteration or retrofitting of controls and control wiring that alters the electrical characteristics of the mechanical system, must be supervised by an electrical administrator licensed in the appropriate category.

- A score of 70% is needed to pass.
- Exam fee is $125
- The exam is given by Thomson Prometric. at 1-(800)899-4089.
